Meet Dr. Kahng
A Passion for Smiles
I love working with my patients to create beautiful and healthy smiles. The diversity of the people I meet and interact with makes my days dynamic and engaging. Every interaction broadens my world as I learn about different cultures, experiences, and people’s dreams.
As an orthodontist, each patient comes to me with a similar desire: to change their smile for the better. While they each seek the same result, how I help an individual get to their best smile is unique.
At our first meeting, I take all the time needed to listen, learn, and understand who my patient is. Beyond their clinical situation, I need insight into their life, activities, and any treatment concerns they might have, whether financial, aesthetic, or other. I also need to be sure my patient understands what treatment entails and what they will need to do in order to ensure the best outcome.
Together, my patient and I create a treatment plan that is tailored to their specific concerns. In working as a team, we are able to undertake the process together and see, at each visit, the progress we are making. By the time treatment is finished, my patient has a wonderfully healthy and beautifully confident smile they love – and I have a new friend!
Education and Commitment to Further Learning
- Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology – University of California, Los Angeles
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Southern California
- Master of Science in Oral Sciences and Advanced Orthodontics Certificate Program – University of Illinois, Chicago
Dental school, and my post-doctorate orthodontics training, provided a solid foundational understanding of the science, medicine, and art of oral health and orthodontics. Like all areas of healthcare, though, the orthodontics specialty is constantly advancing. Ongoing research leads to new materials, technological innovations, and changes in diagnostic processes and treatment.
These new options can change the patient experience and improve comfort, treatment length, and results. It is my responsibility – and one I dearly love – to stay current on the latest research, trends, and emerging science. By attending meetings and lectures, participating in study groups, and reading professional journals, I strive to ensure I am ready to provide patients with proven, science-based care.

Beyond the Practice
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California and now reside in the Bay Area. During my free time I love going to my local farmers market, spending time with my dog Milo, practicing Pilates, and traveling.
